dipCard.com - the world is the limit
Merging traditional postcards with the Internet, dipCard - the digital instant postcard - is a new way of sending personal greetings to friends and family. Sent from a location anywhere in the world and received online via the Internet. Combined with a unique yet simple business model that allows partners worldwide to profit on dipCard, this Danish start-up is already enjoying tremendous success as it introduces a new product to the world.
The journey from an innovative idea to a revolutionary product launched in spring 2000 has been an exciting one for the Danish entrepreneurs and founders of dipCard.com, Richard Engström, Frederik Andersen and Anders Blauenfeldt. And the journey has only just begun. In September 2000 Svend Aage Madsen joined the team as managing director from a long and international career at The LEGO Company - in the 1990's Madsen led LEGOLAND's international development in California and the UK.
In just 6 months of product tests, people from more than 100 different countries have sent or received a dipCard - and the numbers keep rising! Based on sophisticated and patented server technology dipCard can easily be added to a new location anywhere in the world. The full range of enterprises, from small Internet cafés, hotels, resorts, and amusement parks to conferences and large international events can benefit from introducing dipCard to their guests and customers. The value proposition for new dipCard locations falls in two categories, an offline attraction value bridging into an online marketing and relation development tool. Especially the online marketing value has surpassed initial expectations, due to the fact that senders and recipients of dipCard are using their card online even more actively than expected.
The ambition for 2001 is that more than 2 million dipCards are sent from a wide variety of locations around the globe. A dipCard can be sent to a number of recipients directly from where it is sent - and when senders return home they can resend the card online to an unlimited number of friends, family members, and colleagues. dipCards sent to 50 recipients or more is not rare - even more than 100 recipients from one dipCard have been observed.
To continue the global growth, dipCard.com is now looking for new international licensees. First agreement for Florida, US, is in place and a number of contracts are being negotiated at the moment, mainly for regions in the US and Europe.
